Battle Royale

October 22, 2009

Tonight we had a bit of a debate round here. Who would win between Gandalf (the White) and Albus Dumbledore? Please leave comments indicating your choice, and please support your choice with cogent arguments. For example, if you put something like “Dumbledore, because hes awesome!” you will have aspersions heaped upon you.

I think they are actually brothers…so neither would win. That's a totally legit answer…just look at them.

But, Dumbledore did die and did not come back whereas Gandolf died, yet came back. Just a thought…to help others of course.

Jae. This debate is severely flawed. Please take a moment to carefully review each picture, and you will note that these are in fact both the same person. T'would be impossible for one to defeat the other.

That was just the sort of ignorant comment I referenced in the brief body of this post. Prepare yourself for the aspersions to be cast shortly!

    Gandolf would win.

Gandolf's picture successfully made it past my work's security while the one of Dumbledore's is blocked.

    Who knew…

I did a little Wikipedia research and I have come to the conclusion that Gandalf probably has superior powers.

It turns out that Gandalf, according to JRT, was a direct decedent from Eru Ilúvatar ("The Father of All" – The original God). Gandalf participated in the great counsel during the creation of the universe and assisted in the creation of Middle-Earth. Being a Maiar, he could travel between Middle-earth and the spirit world at will, manipulate the elements of his own body and of the environment around him, and was spiritually immortal.

He was actually considered a God, though his powers were significantly limited while in his flesh body. So, I guess the question stands as to when the battle would take place?

When asked this question, Sir Ian McKellen (Gandalf) "puffs out his chest. 'Gandalf. Of course.' "

I really like Ashley's answer. She wins.

My vote goes to the Wizard of Id.

Also, just so everyone knows, Sir Ian McKellen does not play Dumbledore. He would never play such an inane character.

All I see when I look at either of these men is ridiculously attractive facial hair.

The Wizard of Id? Kellen, brace yourself for aspersions!

The Wizard of Id has the greatest power of all, the power of laughter. Also, he carries a SIG Sauer.
